Richard Roche - Successful Basketball Coach in High School and College

The Boys’ Basketball Head Coach and Athletic Director at Notre Dame High School in New Jersey, Richard Roche has compiled an impressive record in high school and college play. In the 2018-2019 season, Richard Roche was named the Colonial Valley Conference Coach of the Year. He previously served as the head basketball coach at Saint Anthony’s in South Huntington, New York.

Another highlight of Mr. Roche’s career came as the head basketball coach at Hobart College in Geneva, New York. Prior to his arrival, the Statesmen had never won a conference championship or even won 20 games in a season. In addition to accomplishing those goals, he led the team to the NCAA Division III tournament. Two of Mr. Roche’s players were finalists for Division III player of the year and three were named Liberty League players of the year.

Mr. Roche earned an undergraduate degree in history at Hobart, later earning a master’s degree in education at Villanova University. At that school, he also served as an assistant coach, helping guide the Wildcats to an NIT championship. In addition to leading teams, he has administrative experience as the District Athletic Director for the Lindenhurst public schools.

Mr. Roche is a member of several professional organizations, including the New Jersey Basketball Coaches Association and the Directors of Athletics Association of New Jersey.
